13CABS to Pay Homage to Diggers in ANZAC Day Parade

13CABS will transport veterans in the 2010 ANZAC Day Parade, some who could not participate otherwise, in a vintage 1923 Yellow Cab as a mark of respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made by Australian servicemen and women.

April 14, 2010 - PRLog -- At dawn on 25 April 1915 troops of the 3rd Brigade First Australian Division staged a daring landing on the shores of Gallipoli forging the identity of a nation in the furnace of war.

13CABS along with all Australians acknowledges the importance of 25 April, ANZAC Day, to the national identity and cultural heritage as a way to properly honour the courage, determination and sacrifice made by Australian servicemen and women across all wars.

ANZAC Day is a time of austerity, respect and reflection beginning with dawn services before the ANZAC Day Parade provides a public forum for the nation to express its pride in our diggers and to recognise the ultimate sacrifice given by more than 100,000 Australians in the line of duty.

As a mark of 13CABS' gratitude it will again transport some veterans in the parade who are unable to participate by foot, in a vintage 1923 Chicago built Yellow Cab, meticulously restored by the late Jim Harris.

"13CABS shares a deeply profound respect with Australians for the ANZAC legend and to show our thanks for the sacrifices made by all of Australia's servicemen and women in our nation's history, we came to help our mates," said 13CABS Client Services Manager Simon Purssey.

"It's a huge honour to drive these great men and women, great Australians, in the ANZAC Day Parade, some who couldn't be here otherwise. It's only fair that they should be present to receive the nation's thanks, and if 13CABS can help them do that it has a duty to do so," Purssey added.

Show your support for Australia's diggers at the 2010 ANZAC Day Parade and give them a cheer as they pass from Flinders Street Station to the Shrine of Remembrance in 13CABS' vintage cab.

A photo opportunity with some of the veterans and the 1923 Chicago Yellow Cab can be organised if required.
