Chmiel Is At It Again

Expected to be a landmark event and an extremely competitive ultra marathon, George Chmiel is prepped to run his second (in only 6 months) 150+ mile race in the treacherous outback of Australia on April 25th.

March 31, 2010 - PRLog -- A newbie by comparison to others in the field, (he works in Boston as the V.P. Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Structured Investments) ultra marathon runner George Chmiel completed his first Racing The Planet event in the blistering 6 day-155 mile Sahara Desert Race this past October.  Despite having only two years of running experience, he was the top American to finish and placed 5th overall in the highly competitive and experienced group of ultra marathon runners.

RacingThePlanet: Australia 2010 has over 200 competitors from 30 countries in the field. Chmiel will encounter severe terrain, extreme heat and dangerous wildlife in the Australian Outback, and he will be doing so in a cast after recently having reconstructive surgery on his right wrist.

Thousands of families learned about George’s Quest for Luci last fall during the Sahara Race. Facebook pages, websites and Twitter were alive with his name as they learned that he was running this extreme marathon for a group of ill children supported by The MAGIC Foundation. Subsequently, he was interviewed by local media in Boston, national ESPN media and Luci’s family was interviewed in Texas.
