Follow on Google News | Environmental Technician Training, No Cost for Residents of Norwalk, Ansonia, Derby, SheltonThe WorkPlace Inc., is sponsoring an eight-week classroom and hands-on Environmental Technician Training at no cost to residents of Norwalk, Ansonia, Derby, Shelton, and Seymour. We are having info sessions to recruit participants.
By: Melanie Blanco This grant program is a tremendous opportunity for people who are interested in the environmental field to train for a career, and to contribute to the important task of improving the environment. Graduates of the program could obtain possible employment as hazwoper technicians, lead remediation supervisors, chemical lab technicians, lead inspectors, asbestos supervisors, chemical treatment tank operators, or environmental technicians/ Graduates of the program are awarded with state credentials in Lead and Asbestos Abatement as well as Hazwoper certification. Training is accompanied by a variety of supportive services as well as job search assistance and on-the-job follow-up. Prospective applicants must have a high school diploma or GED; be 18 or older, have a valid CT driver’s license and access to a car; achieve a satisfactory score on a reading and math test; and pass a physical exam, drug test and criminal background check. There will be two information sessions held at Environmental Management Consultants located at 412 Roosevelt Drive in Derby on Monday, May 10 at 10AM and 1PM. Seating is limited, and information sessions are by appointment only. Those interested are encouraged to call the Derby CTWorks office at 203-734-3443 for additional information or to enroll. The Brownfields Environmental Remediation Training Program is a project of The WorkPlace, Inc. supported with funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
