May 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Young Engineering and Manufacturing, manufacturer of ASME, FM, and UL Approved surge and pulsation control products, offers a line of hydraulic surge tanks exclusive to the PetroChemical industry.

“Young Engineering has long been a manufacturer of pressure surge tanks to the water, fire protection, and PetroChemical industries,” Cites Jeffrey McConnell, Young Engineering’s Director of Marketing and Sales.  “Over the past few years, we have seen a measurable increase in applications from the PetroChemical industry.  To best serve this industry, we have developed a line of surge tanks engineered specifically for the PetroChemical industry.  From customized fittings, formulated elastomers, and customized coatings, these tanks are designed to withstand the harsh environments in which PetroChemical pipelines are normally placed.”

PetroChemical companies are placing Young Engineering Hydraulic Surge tanks before booster station pumps on existing crude oil and refined fuel pipelines; eliminating the need for most types of relief valves on pipeline.  The elimination of relief valves produces a two-fold safety factor:  1.  It eliminates the discharge of any fluid into the atmosphere; instead a Bladder Surge Tank will absorb any transient surge due to pump shutdown or valve closure.  2.  Eliminates the need to reintroduce expelled fluids back into a pipeline; since the fluid surge is contained within the Surge Tank, once the pressure within the pipeline is equalized, the pressure from the bladder will reintroduce the fluid into the pipeline.

Young Engineering has produced a computer generated video illustrating how a Bladder Surge Tank functions to prevent over pressurization on pipelines due to pump shutdown or valve closure.  This video is located at http://www.youngeng.com/fuel_surge_tank_movie.html; other movies are also online at http://www.youngeng.com/movies.html.   Young Engineering has also compiled information regarding surges in the PetroChemical industry; and what types of surge tanks are available for use; click over to http://www.youngeng.com/fuelproducts.html.

Young Engineering has produced a DVD explaining how their surge tanks absorb transient surges and reintroduce the fluid into the pipeline once the surge has subsided; to order a free copy, click over to http://www.youngeng.com/dvdorder.html or order a copy; either in standard definition or BluRay.

Young Engineering’s website (http://www.youngeng.com) is designed to be used as a reference tool for those seeking information on Bladder Surge Tanks, Bladder Expansion Tanks, Pulsation Dampeners, and Surge Suppressors.  Regardless of industry (Fire Prevention, PetroChemical, or Water/Wastewater), Young Engineering provides a solution for hydraulic surges.
