Bloc Party's Kele Okereke announces solo UK tour

May 7, 2010 - PRLog -- With Bloc Party on hiatus, its frontman, Kele Okereke has set out on his own and is poised to release his solo album 'The Boxer' in June.

The first single, Tenderoni sees Kele embracing his dance and club roots with a heavy synth and electro-pop beat complete with his distinctive vocals. So get ready with your "big fish, little fish, cardboard box" dance moves. He announced the album on his twitter saying "This record is like nothing I've ever done before and I hope all of you will love it as much as I do. See you in the summer." We shall try Kele, we shall try.

It seems the break from Bloc Party gave Kele the opportunity to delve into his interests of dance and allowed him to experiment with his DJing skills. The video for 'Tenderoni' includes beefy Kele taking on the character of a boxer with interludes of Tron female dancers - sort of like LL Cool J meets Kylie.

Kele has been smacked all over the press recently with his recent admission of experiencing a post-album emotional breakdown à la Britney Spears. But I'm sure the critical acclaim and support he is receiving from Electric Banana's glowing writers will help to lighten the mood.
