Follow on Google News | The Streets Announce Nottingham Rock City GigMike Skinner (The Streets) will arrive at the Nottingham Rock City venue during his 2011 UK 'Farewell Tour'.
By: Electric Banana The Streets have confirmed a series of thrilling dates to support their fifth and final album, 'Computer and Blues' (that is to be released on the 7th February 2011) of which he'll be performing at Nottingham's Rock City on the 26th. Another Midlands gig is at Lincoln's Engine Shed venue on February 20th and a return to his home-town of Birmingham on the 25th. Computer and Blues is, according to Skinner himself, supposed to be dance music you can drink tea to...which may actually be a potential health and safety issue. Mike Skinner's recordings as the Streets marked the first attempt to add a degree of social commentary to Britain's party-hearty garage/2-step (and later grime) movement. Skinner, a Birmingham native who later moved to London, was an outsider in the garage scene - but has gone on to release critically acclaimed albums such as debut 'Original Pirate Material' (2002) and 'A Grand Don't Come for Free' (2004). No doubt it will be a sombre tour for fans as Skinner has also dubbed this the farewell tour, but it won't stop you all dancing around to the epic lyrics of this 'street poet' – "you are really fit but my gosh don't you just know it". Tickets went on sale on Friday 12th November 2010.
