Follow on Google News | Ogihara America Corporation Wins Energy Savings Project of the Year AwardOgihara America is utilizing remote laser welding technology for energy savings of 94% over traditional spot welding methods. We are dedicated to energy conservation and utilize continual improvement projects to lower energy usage.
Ogihara America’s winning project was for the installation of a remote laser welding cell for the upper door of a two piece door assembly. Traditional resistance welding methods for automotive sheet metal joining consume electricity at an alarming rate. A spot weld for example, consumes over 70,000 watts of electricity per second. A remote laser weld consumes approximately 94% less electricity to produce a weld as compared to a traditional spot weld. Ogihara America is dedicated to energy conservation and utilizes continual improvement projects to lower energy usage and overhead costs. Just this year another remote laser cell was installed bringing the total number of cells to five. Janet Bottesi, Sales Engineer and Diversification Team Leader, accepted the award on behalf of all Ogihara America associates on Tuesday May 4th at the Energy Conference and Exhibition at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi. # # # About Ogihara America Corporation: Ogihara America Corporation has been a leader in the sheet metal stamping industry for over twenty years.
