Thr effects of Botox can take up to 7 to 10 days to be fully apparent and on average last 3 to 5 months.  There is however variability in this and some patients can experience lesser duration of action and some may experience more.  Another form of botulinum toxin, Dysport, is an alternative to Botox injections.  There are not significant different between the two, however there are reports that onset of action can be early as 2 to 3 days after the injection.  Everything else however including side effect profile and duration of action are the same.  It is also important to realize the Dysport comes in 500 unit vials while Botox comes in 100 unit vials.  1 Unit of Botox is equivalent to 4 to 5 Units of Dysport so be vary when they advertise that it is only $3 to $5 per unit.  The cost may be the same, if not more, as Botox.  Always ask how many units are being injected and what the cost will be so you are not surprised when you get ready to pay.
