By: Mikey http://www.freesaptutorial.com If you’re now working as a programmer for any other programming languages such as C, C#, .NET, JAVA, etc and wanted to make a career change to SAP and find Jobs in ABAP then I can only tell you that it will be a joy ride, because once you’ve mastered or at least know your way around Object Oriented Programming then learning ABAP language would not be that difficult. I still remembered about a year ago when I was first get a job as an ABAPer, I thought that this programming language is super difficult, like only an handful of people in the world can learn this programming language, but the truth is that the only reason why this language is so “Exclusive” But luckily my company did implement it, and back then I was still working as a programmer using .NET technologies and had 2 weeks of training for ABAP, after that created my first report program, pool program, ALV, SMARTFORMS, and so forth, was it difficult? If you have been in the programming field more than 5 years then you probably know that learning a new programming language is NOT DIFFICULT, all you need to do is learn all its basic syntax such as how to do the looping, selection, query, insert, update, delete and other programming syntax. Once you’ve learned it then it would only took you a month or so to learn the whole thing… :) There are 6 main modules in SAP which are PP, MM, SD, FICO, PM, QM and I’ve been fortunate enough to work on these modules, the good thing about SAP is that it’s standard and all other companies across the globe are using the same tables, structures, etc. So if you happened to moved into a new company in a different country, then you shouldn’t have to worry about tables and any other technical stuffs because you will already learned that from your previous job. The internet also filled with tons of online resources you can learn from, such as online forums, SAP help documentation that will guide you in solving any problems regarding ABAP programming, so don’t worry about getting the helps you need because you will never be alone and there are many professional ABAPers that will help you and teach you everything you need to know. The average salary for an ABAPer these days are at £50,000 – £60,000 P/A so it’s a Job that worth pursuing for.
