Innovative Dance Movement groups coming to Gorham, Maine
 
 
The Dance Studio of Maine is pleased to announce 2 new movement groups for toddlers and teens. Carefully designed by aspiring dance therapist Elizabeth Damon, these class will use fun, engaging activities to stimulate the child’s developmental skills and create movement through emotion.
 
Damon, a Gorham native, danced at the Dance Studio of Maine and is currently pursuing her Masters degree in dance therapy and counseling at Antioch University in Keene, NH. She is excited to bring movement groups and awareness about dance movement therapy to southern Maine. “Dance therapy is a fairly new field and form of therapy,” Damon says. “Dance therapy has a variety of applications and is a great alternative for trauma victims, children with autism, older adults, and infants.”
 
Most movement groups have 8-10 participants and help students find movement within themselves. The music varies and teachers will choose what seems best for the group.
