May 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Chef Tarsha Gary, Founder of “Community Kids Cook w/ Chef Tarsha” a summer cooking camp and ECOTONE, announces a special summer camp session beginning June 1, 2010 for selected patients at The University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. The collaboration between Community Kids Cook and the MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital will engage current patients by empowering them with healthy food education, kitchen independence and preparation of nutritious meals and snacks which will benefit them as they undergo treatment.

“Nutrition during cancer treatment is vital to overall health and well being, “says Chef Gary. “My initial goal of the summer cooking camps was to engage disadvantaged children in urban communities to adopt a healthier lifestyle by improving how they view food but with this special group of MD Anderson participants, my goal aligns with the greater purpose of the ECOTONE venture and that is to cultivate healthy food relationships globally.”

ECOTONE is an acronym for- ecological atonement model – cultivating urban organic food.  As a “green vision catalyst” ECOTONE proudly sponsors the education continuum of the Community Kids Cook w/ Chef Tarsha summer cooking camp program as part of its extended summer education series.

Identified as an awarded winning Chef, most recently awarded 2010 “Texas Blazing Star” by The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas and 2009 “40 Under 40” by The Houston Business Journal, Gary guarantees children benefiting from the Community Kids Cook program to receive “a valuable experience that will guide their cognitive and practical perspectives emphasizing a greater appreciation for knowing where food comes from and the healthful benefits of fresh organic food products,” as is in part the global mission of  ECOTONE.

The Community Kids Cook w/Chef Tarsha summer camp program will be offered to the general public starting July 1, 2010 in several community multi service centers in the Houston area.  Enrollment is currently underway with a deadline of June 15, 2010.
