Hong Kong Expats Retire to Phuket

June 1, 2010 - PRLog -- When expats Andy and Julie Thomas made the decision to take life at a slower pace they opted to buy a home in Phuket where they knew they could relax and spend more time with their growing family.  I caught up with them at their villa at Layan Hills Estate on the west coast of Phuket.

"We love working in Hong Kong, but life is so hectic and we knew that when it came time for us to retire we'd want to move somewhere which gave us a more relaxed pace of live, time to enjoy being with our friends, our children and our grandchildren.  We wanted a place which was not too far away from Hong Kong, where we could find everything we had back home but enjoy a great climate, beaches and a safe and secure environment....that's why we settled on Phuket, Thailand."

Andy and Julie decided to buy a property at Layan Hills Estate on the west coast of Phuket. "We were very impressed by the quality of the first project Layan Estate, the large well landscaped gardens and modern and very useable design were just what we were looking for, so when the opportunity came up to buy into the same developers new project [Layan Hills estate] we jumped at the chance." said Andy.

Julie continued, "Having a large family we opted for a five bedroom villa, so that our kids and grandkids could come and stay and there'd still be plenty of space for all of us.  The gardens are huge and the 25m swimming pool is beautiful, but my favourite part of the house has to be the living and dining areas which completely open out onto the gardens and swimming pool deck, it's great for entertaining.   In fact we've never had so  many friends as when we came to live in Phuket."

Julie concluded; "I'd be happy to recommend Phuket and in particular Layan Hills Estate to anyone thinking of retiring - it's a safe and clean environment and the cost of living is very cheap compared to other Asian countries."
