By: DDB China Group Shanghai, June 24, 2010 – There was late night excitement at the DDB China Group office in Shanghai yesterday, as Jody Xiong and his team heard the results of the Cannes Lions Awards. Their Green Pedestrian Crossing campaign, for the China Environmental Protection Foundation, was awarded a Gold Lion in the Semi-Permanent Environmental Design category. “It was once only a dream for me, but last night it came true,” said Chief Creative Officer, Michael Dee. “This award, which is the first Cannes Lion win for DDB China Group, really belongs to every one of our colleagues. It honors the compelling creative approach that we all take towards our work and reinforces our belief that 'creativity is the most powerful force in business.' ” This Gold Lion award, which is only the second one ever awarded to an agency in Greater China, comes fast on the heels of other international wins for DDB China Group’s Jody Xiong and his team. They recently won a Silver Pencil in the One Show Design Awards, for their Pregnancy Care Association campaign against passive smoking, in the Public Service category.
