ROLEX WATCHES, Rolex Submariner, Rolex Sea Dweller

The very first Rolex Submariner of mine was purchased in the beginning of 2002. It was a classic black Rolex Submariner 16610 with spring bar holes on the lugs. It was a sporty, yet classic watch that suits almost every occasion for my age, back then. I sold the watch a little while later to finance a more sophisticated item - an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 14790 with blue face.

Early this year, 2010, Rolex discontinued manufacturing the classic Rolex Submariner 16610 and continued the heritage with the new Rolex Submariner 116610 featuring a bigger, bulkier case, the ceramic bezel, and the glidelock clasp. I went to my local Rolex authorized dealer to see if they have any stock of the classic black Submariner 16610. But they are putting my name on the waiting list with no guarantee when they will be able to source one - since the Swiss factory doesn't make it anymore The Rolex Submariner 16610 was a popular watch. I love its simple, classic, black and stainless steel color combination. But I didn't cherish it too much because it was too popular. While I am on the waiting list I decided to use my 50th anniversary green bezel Rolex Submariner 16610LV as blueprint and designeded my version of the classic black Rolex Submariner 16610 which I named it SEAWOLF 300
Designing Concepts
Since this is one of my first wristwatch designs, I would like to pay homage to the Rolex Submariner 16610. However, the original Rolex Submariner 16610's cyclops at 3 o'clock is one thing that bothers me. So, removing the cyclops is a must. The rest I would like to keep this watch as simple and as classic as to the discontinued Rolex Submariner 16610
