Scituate Arts Association to host fall workshops

Oct. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Scituate Arts Association will host two assemblage workshops with Dianne E. Miller titled “The Art of Creative Reuse and Reimagining.” Workshops will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, or Saturday, Nov. 6.

Students can transform found objects into a three-dimensional work of art, and learn how to attach unrelated objects and make them into a cohesive piece. This is a way to use collections and recycle at the same time. A $15 materials fee includes the use of tools, adhesives and some paints. Materials needed include acrylic paints, container for water, paint brushes of various sizes, scissors, paper towels, pallet for paint, exacto knife with self-healing mat, small hammer, pliers, screwdriver and heat gun.

Items in the artwork can include cigar boxes, game pieces, old papers, watch parts, gears, washers, wire, rusted nails, organic materials such as bird nests or seed pods, buttons, bottle caps or old jewelry. Also bring plenty of extra things for a community pile to share with others. Cost is $60 for members, $80 for non-members.
