Jim DeLutes Proves “You Can Teach An Old Photographer New Tricks”

July 7, 2010 - PRLog -- LONGMONT, CO – With two international magazines recognizing the photographic art of Boulder County photographer Jim DeLutes in the past three months, it has become obvious that the change in direction taken with his art is attracting a new audience.  Two photographs of Italy were chosen by COLOR magazine for their May ‘Single Image Contest’ and two images are currently in the Photoshop User July/August issue as part of their Design Showcase.

A few years ago, after over 30 years of traditional photography, DeLutes decided to not only embrace digital photography but also learn Photoshop so as to expand his artistic vision.  “It was an interesting challenge since I was not very adept at the computer,” states DeLutes, “and Photoshop is such a vast program to learn.”  After almost a year of online lessons and reading dozens of books on Photoshop, it began to make sense and he was able to use the many artistic tools to create a new style of work. “The recognition from Photoshop User magazine is very exciting since these are the people who know Photoshop inside and out,” said DeLutes, “ and it is a magazine that I have used to learn more about Photoshop.”

This new body of work will have its premiere showing at Studio 12 Gallery, 209 Kalamath #12 in Denver from August 27th – September 24th with opening reception with the artist on September 3rd.  These new images and more information can be found on Jim DeLutes’ website – www.JDLphotos.com.
