INDIANAPOLIS - March 28, 2025 - PRLog -- The Indianapolis Public Relations Society will honor Julie A. Vincent, a public relations
professional and educator whose work has positively impacted the community for more than 40 years, as the 2025 recipient of the Indy PR Legend Award. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, April 16, at a noon luncheon at the University Club, 970 N. Delaware St., Indianapolis, 46202.

More than half of Vincent's career was in Indiana's public utilities, first at Public Service Indiana (now Duke) as its Marble Hill Nuclear Plant spokesperson, and then as head of Corporate Communications at Indiana Gas Company (now Vectren). Her niche areas included crisis communications, crisis media relations, senior leadership media training, reputation management and journalism ethics.

During her career, she also formed and headed up the Corporate Communications department and was North American spokesperson for a billion-dollar publicly traded company and was Director of Marketing and Community Outreach for a major student lender. She also served as Public Relations and ACCU-CHEK Brand Manager, Diabetes Care, for Roche Diagnostics.

Vincent was a consultant to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and helped with training programs for state and local officials in preparation for potential emergencies, as well as participating in actual ones.

Initially out of college, she taught journalism at Broad Ripple High school, her alma mater,
before entering the corporate world. In 2010, Vincent returned to education as a full-time lecturer of Public Relations in the Department of Journalism and Public Relations at IUPUI, where she had been teaching as an adjunct since 2006. Her students included both undergraduates and those in the graduate program, with many of them going on to impactful careers in the profession.

A published author and a national award-winning corporate communicator, Vincent has a B.S. from Ball State University and a M.S. from Butler University. She has served in multiple roles with the Hoosier Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, including president in 1994, and was president of IPRS in 1998. She was accepted into the PRSA College of Fellows in 2012, and is a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Academy, the FBI Citizens Academy, Indianapolis, and the Hamilton County Leadership Academy. She was president and owner of Wordsmith Communications Group, Inc., a full-service communications consulting firm, her entire career.

The Indy PR Legend Award was first presented in 2008 to James R. Hetherington, a
long-time Indianapolis journalist and public relations executive. Subsequent
honorees have been Robert L. Gildea, Myra Borshoff, Carl Henn, Ann Rein, Gretchen
Wolfram, Donna Mikels Shea, Bob Dittmer, Lou Gerig, Bill Benner, David Sease, and Billie Fouts.
