July 13, 2010 - PRLog -- This year’s event will be held at the Penn Oaks Country Club in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and the proceeds from the event will provide scholarships for deserving student-athletes and band members.  Last year, the “C” Club raised $25,000 through the golf tournament, which was used to support the athletic program.

The “C” Club is committed to Cheyney University's twelve varsity sports, marching band and cheerleading squad and serves as a booster club to enhance school spirit, increase attendance at sporting events, raise money for the athletic department, while building overall enthusiasm for the University.  Members are composed of alumni, former student athletes, parents, fans, and community supporters who believe that a strong intercollegiate athletic program can enhance character and University spirit, as well as increase Cheyney's national visibility.

The honorary co-chairs for the 2010 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament are Robert W. Bogle and Jimmy Ellis.  Robert W. Bogle is the CEO of the Philadelphia Tribune, the oldest continuously published African-American newspaper in the United States, and Chairman of the Cheyney University Council of Trustees.  James O. Ellis, III is an educator, swim coach, PDR Swim Team founder, mentor, motivational speaker and subject of the motion picture Pride.  Both are proud alumni of the university.

The 2010 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament will be held at the Penn Oaks Country Club located at 150 Penn Oaks Drive in West Chester, Pennsylvania on August 27th.

This tournament is the signature fund raising event of the Cheyney University C Club.

Non-golfing activities are included for non-golfers, and sponsorship and advertising opportunities are still available. To register for the 2010 Wade Wilson Golf Tournament log onto www.cheyneycclub.com or call Joe DeVane (610) 743-8311.
