By: Nerissa M. Fernandez After persistent clamoring from their fast-growing number of fans, Enchong and Erich finally bring their magical chemistry to the big screen in the latest film offering of ABS-CBN International’ In Paano Ko Sasabihin, Erich plays Erhyl, a young TV soap writer, enjoys a daily guilty pleasure in her otherwise humdrum life: the chance to glance at her handsome co-commuter on the train from her home to work. There seems to be just one downside (or so she thinks): he is deaf. Fortunately for Erhyl, with a brother who is also unable to hear, she can communicate very well in sign language. To increase her chances of winning the guy’s attention and affection, she opts for deception and pretends to be deaf. However, Mike (Enchong), the commuter Erhyl fancies and believes to be deaf, can actually hear and speak. He happens to be a teacher in a special school for the hearing and speech impaired. Believing that Erhyl is deprived of the sense of hearing, he also pretends to be one. What happens to honest affection and fondness when it is tinged with misrepresentation? Paano Ko Sasabihin was written and directed by Richard Legaspi, a graduate of the Asian Film Academy in Pusan, South Korea. His films have been screened at the Pusan, Dubai, Pyongyang, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, and many other festivals. What sets this film apart is not only the unique plotline or the addicting presence of Enchong and Erich in spite of having less spoken lines; it is also the cinematography of Ogi Sugatan whose expert use of luscious lighting transformed the mechanical, sometimes even dehumanizing, panorama of train stations and cramped cabins into places of romantic possibilities. “We believe in the talents of our young Filipino actors like Enchong and Erich and independent filmmakers like Richard Legaspi. Thus, we make sure that Filipino moviegoers in the U.S. are also exposed to small but quality movies like Paano Ko Sasabihin so that they can appreciate the full breadth of cinematic genius that comes from our homeland,” said Kerwin Du, ABS-CBN International’ Paano Ko Sasabihin, with English subtitles, will be shown in the following theaters from July 23-29: LOS ANGELES - BUENA PARK Krikorian Premier Theatres 8290 La Palma Avenue Buena Park, CA 90620 www.kptmovies.com NEW JERSEY - BERGENFIELD Clearview Bergenfield Cinemas 58 South Washington Avenue Bergenfield, NJ 07621 www.MovieTickets.com For more information, please visit www.abs-cbnglobalmovies.com.
