Follow on Google News | NSCS Members Receive Pearson Prize for Higher EducationThe National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is pleased to announce 12 NSCS members have received The Pearson Prize for Higher Education.
The Pearson Foundation established The Pearson Prize for Higher Education to recognize and support active college students who have made an impact on their college campus and community. NSCS members claimed 12 of the 40 recipient spots for this prestigious national award with three receiving a $10,000 scholarship and nine members receiving a $500 scholarship. $10,000 recipients: • Greg Woodburn of the University of Southern California • James Casey of Howard University • Patrick Wiggins of James Madison University $500 recipients: • Alejandro Llamas, Loyola Marymount University • Clayton Wainwright, The University of Arizona • Aubrey Thornton, University of Illinois at Chicago • Natalie Tepeli, Loyola University • Tynisha Sudberry, Howard University • Katlin Voigt, Appalachian State University • Brent Simpson, Arizona State University • Shea Standifer, University of Alabama at Birmingham • Lauren Phelps, Butler University All recipients successfully completed a two-step application process, including submitting essay questions regarding community and campus involvement, leadership and service. Shortlisted applicants were required to create a video explaining why they deserved the Pearson Prize. In addition to the scholarship funds, all Pearson Prize Scholars receive a digital portfolio and access to online tools to tell their stories through the Pearson Foundation's leadership programs. They are also connected to an ongoing support network of current and past Pearson Prize recipients. # # # NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation's only interdisciplinary honors organization to invite first and second year college students.
