Aug. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Auditel Consultant Laurence Fitch has entered the first ever ‘Lexus Great British Bike Ride’. The four-day event from 1st - 4th September 2010, will be the first in a series of annual events to raise £1.5 million for charity over the next five years. This year, the event will be staged from Lands End to Twickenham Stadium. It is designed for all cycling enthusiasts, sportsmen and women, who want to take on a real challenge and raise some much appreciated funds.

http://auditelconsultants.co.uk/ruthdawe/about-laurence-fitch/ says: “We expect to have close on 200 riders setting out from Lands End, which is more than the Tour de France. In fact the first day of 100 miles, is longer than several of the stages on this year’s tour. The first two days scare the living daylights out of me as we cross Cornwall, Devon, and Somerset, 196 miles mostly uphill! The last two days just frighten me! However, knowing the benefits of the funds we raise for the nominated charities should be more than enough incentive to keep me going.  We average 80 miles a day and overnight accommodation and hospitality is at rugby clubs en-route – why does this not feel like a brilliant idea?

“Our nominated charities include ‘Help for Heroes’’. They do fabulous work for servicemen and women injured in the current conflicts around the world.  As an ex-serviceman myself, I really can appreciate the difference they are making. Less well known perhaps, are The RFU Injured Players Foundation and The RPA Benevolent Fund.  These organisations provide support to rugby players who are seriously injured playing the sport they love.  Anyone who has been on or around a rugby pitch when a player suffers a life changing injury, can understand how valuable this is.  These charities help with rehabilitation and also other key areas like converting their accommodation so that it is suitable for wheelchair access.”

Laurence concludes: “To finish at Twickenham in front of seventy thousand rugby fans will be a fantastic finale to the ride. It will give me some memories to treasure as well as raising a lot of money for three very worthy charities. I hope that this event is the incredible success it deserves to be, starting a momentum for the next five years. I look forward to my greater involvement. Finally, I must also thank members of my local cycling club for talking me into investing in a good saddle – the best advice yet!” Laurence’s site for potential donors is: www.virginmoneygiving.com/LaurenceFitch
