Thai Airways and Tiger Airways alliance brings new low cost fares to the Far East

Aug. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Thai Airways and Singapore’s Tiger Airways are to create a new budget airline, Thai Tiger, for travellers in the Far East.

Set to launch next year, destinations are to include Cambodia and Vietnam with other destinations to follow.

Tiger Airways, which is part owned by Singapore Airlines, have been quickly expanding their route network since 2004.  The carrier expects to increase its nineteen Airbus A320s to a total of sixty eight by December 2015.

Thai Airways hopes the venture will increase their presence within the fast growing budget travel market in Asia.

Piyasvasti Amranand, Thai Airways President commented; “We believe that this move will provide revenue opportunities for Thai [Airways] and allow Thai [Airways] to be more competitive in the region with the anticipated growth in the low cost market...which we expect will lead to growth in air travel in the Asian market."

Thai Tiger will commence low cost domestic and international flights from Bangkok Airport within the first quarter of 2011.
