Follow on Google News | Improper Watering Can Cost You More Than You ThinkAn Estimated 30-50% of Water Used For Irrigation Is Wasted - Follow these tips to help conserve water
- Look out for possible leaks. It makes sense that it is the first thing that you should be doing. Check out your hose and then, your drip or irrigation system. Just imagine how much water is wasted from those unattended perpetual drips and leaks. Worse, when you are not around, your unnoticed broken sprinkler heads can readily create geysers of water (pictured above). That’s tons and tons and tons of water gone to waste. So, inspect and repair what needs to be taken care of. - Get up early to water your lawn. It is great if you can start watering even before dawn. When you water before the sun rises, evaporation is far less. When you water later in the day and the sun is already up, the air is warmer and the soil dries faster even before your lawn can effectively absorb the water. When you water your lawn there should be no water pooling or overrun. You have to understand that the amount of water not absorbed by the soil (in your lawn) is money wasted. However, the water should be absorbed deeply, maybe several inches below, reaching the roots of the grass, in order to do this and avoid over watering you must give it some time to breathe and take in the water. Short and more frequent is better than one big long watering session. - Avoid sprinkling your lawn at night. Letting your lawn become damp and cold at night isn’t healthy. It can only invite infections. It is always more practical and conducive to water your lawn earlier in the day. The soil becomes more manageable and you can grow your lawn grasses more successfully. # # # California Arborist Construction was created to balance the professional workmanship and expertise in the landscape, tree trimming, and construction industries that customers can trust, while still making it cost-effective for wide varities of customers End
