Aug. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- We have all heard about surrogate mothers which by definition is a woman who bears a child for another person, often for pay, either through artificial insemination or by carrying until birth another woman's surgically implanted fertilized egg or someone that acts as, serves as, or is a mother substitute and parents.  We are also familiar with the term surrogate parents, who by definition, is a person who stands in the place of a child’s parent, but who is not that parent. Either by virtue of voluntary or court-appointed status, that person assumes all rights, duties and responsibilities of the child’s parent.

A term you may not be familiar with is surrogate grandparents, and you won’t find a definition for the term in the dictionary but that’s ok, we are here to tell you all about it.  Surrogatgrandparenting.com is a new online community that helps families find each other.  The website was created by Christene, a health educator by trade and stay at home mom who lost both of her parents at a young age, Christene wanted her daughter to experience the pleasure of having grandparents and thus began this journey.  The website was designed to be an online community where families with children who don’t have extended family alive, nearby, etc. can safely meet older “surrogate grandparents” who wish to play a part in a child’s and their family’s life. Surrogategrandparenting.com was a way to create the extended family she wanted.  

This site gives families the opportunity to express their needs through a state-specific member’s only forum.  Once your profile is completed you are able to post photos and preferences regarding the family you are looking for.  We are looking for responsible, healthy, independent, caring, older adults who would love to be a surrogate grandparent.  If this is you or if you are the person looking to create the family you have always wanted, then getting started is easy.
