The Atheist and Silly Semantics

The atheist paints himself into a corner with his faith. When a person points out how he did it, the atheist will begin to play games with the meaning of words.

Sept. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- This is something I call "silly semantics". Ask an atheist for the evidence that God does NOT exist and he quickly realizes his folly. The atheist has no evidence that God does not exist so what does he do now? He begins to redefine definitions.

The classic definition of an atheist is "God does not exist". The classic definition of an agnostic is "maybe He does but I don't really know". Now you point out to an atheist that since he has no evidence for his claim he actually exists with a "blind faith". This does not make him happy because it is what he accuses Christians of having "blind faith".  Now he has to redefine what atheist means if he wants to maintain his credibility.

The new atheist doesn't mean "God does not exist". Now it means "I simply lack the faith that God exists". Sounds intellectually sound doesn’t it? But, did you notice he just said the same thing? In both cases he just said "God does not exist" but he did it in two different ways. Let me give you an example.

If I say, I have faith this chair won't hold me or I say, I lack the faith in this chars ability to hold me. What have I just said? This chair won't hold me! The end is the same because the meaning is the same. The same thing applies with God does not exist or I lack the faith in Gods existence. The end is the same, God does not exist. Please take a look at this video for more.
