Congressional Candidate Shelley Madore delivers letter to John Kline asking for a debate

Sept. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- (Apple Valley, Minn.) – Second Congressional District candidate Shelley Madore held a press conference and delivered a formal letter to Rep. John Kline’s Burnsville office on Monday, September 20, inviting him to choose any date, time and place for a debate, between October 1 and October 19. The letter requested a response by September 27.

Last week, Rep. Kline refused an invitation from the League of Women Voters and 5 Eyewitness News to debate Madore on October 2. Mr. Kline's office initially cited a scheduling conflict but when offered the opportunity to choose another weekend day and time in October, his campaign stated that he was too busy.

Mr. Kline also failed to attend the traditional FarmFest Candidate Forum in August.

"Congress is in recess during the month of October," said Shelley Madore. "What is Mr. Kline doing that is more important than allowing voters to hear from both candidates so they can make an informed decision? Running for public office requires a job interview with every voter in your district. Congressman Kline seems to assume he will be rehired for his public service job without having to answer to his constituents about his past performance."

The Madore Campaign, along with members of the press and others in attendance, hand-delivered the letter to a member of John Kline’s staff and promised to publicize his response at madoreforcongress.com as soon as it is received.
