EFA Processing Supports the Literacy Instruction for Texas

Sept. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- In the month of June, EFA joined the cause for Family Literacy with LIFT.  Literacy Instruction for Texas teaches parents how to engage their children with books, and encourages families to read together at home.  The LIFT program is reaching out to businesses in the community to help collect new and gently used children’s books for Family Literacy workshops.  The goal is to help more than 3,500 families receive free books.

According to LIFT, some parents don’t fully understand the value of teaching young children at home before they start school. Unfortunately, these children are already behind when they begin kindergarten.  LIFT provides free workshops in low income neighborhood Head Starts and Day Care Centers, teaching parents how to read to young children.
