SpiceRoads opens up Northeast Vietnam

Sept. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- SpiceRoads Cycle Tours is launching a new tour inviting you to discover Vietnam's Northeat Mountains!

Vietnam is now opening up more areas to tourism and encouraging the outside world to discover it's beauty. This relatively untouched region, which you would previously need a special permit to visit, is a land of stunningly varied landscapes where idyllic beaches in tranquil bays and stunning mountain scenery constantly compete for attention.

We ride up to 660 kilometres in 14 days through a marvellous landscape of many breath-taking bends winding up mountains and down to valleys where colourful ethnic minorities are still living as they have for hundreds of years. As you cycle by villagers weaving in their homes and blacksmiths forging their tools it will be as if everyday you are riding through an open air museum.

This journey starts in Hanoi and heads north by train to Lao Cai on the Chinese border. From there we venture east into the province of Ha Giang, a region that just eased access for tourists. The limestone mountains of this pristine region provide an amazing backdrop of cliff faces jutting out. Where the terrain flattens out, plums, peaches and persimmons are grown, and we'll cycle among the orchards and the rice fields. During your cycling days you will have lots of time to explore villages by foot and one afternoon we'll take a break from biking and cruise by boat up a river to our overnight stay on the banks of Vietnam's largest natural lake. We end our tour on a unique island in Ha Long Bay, so you can take advantage of the sandy beaches Vietnam has to offer.

The accommodation on this trip ranges from eco lodges and standard hotel rooms to overnight stays in ethnic villages and a beachside resort, allowing you to experience the real Vietnam in a number of captivating ways.
