C&T Publishing introduces the Design Collective

   CONCORD, CA, May 25, 2010—C&T Publishing announces
the Design Collective, an exciting new series of craft sewing books within the http://www.stashbooksblog.com/ Stash Books imprint that showcases select groups of fresh, contemporary designers.  

C&T scouted for most of the featured designers on Etsy.com. According to Etsy.com, more than 200,000 artisans sell over $50 million in handmade goods annually. “Etsy is changing the way the economy works…if you have a computer and camera and you like to make things, you can make and sell anything you want,” said an Etsy spokesperson in a recent CNN News story on the popularity of crafting.

In that same story, writer Mark Tutton reported that there has been a resurgence in the popularity of handmade goods in the U.S. “The idea has even emerged of crafting as a form of activism. The term ‘craftivism’ has been coined to describe the idea of 'making your own' as a statement against runaway consumerism and mass production.”
