Grand Opening of New Eco-Friendly Business Incubator in Washington, DC on October 15

Sept. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- (Washington, DC) -- On Friday, October 15, Washington, DC’s new Center for Green Urbanism welcomes you to an opening celebration for the first green-inspired business and art center east of the Anacostia River. The Center is an art-infused business incubator providing office space to small and mid-size companies, an environmentally-themed art gallery and demonstration model for homes and businesses in the heart of downtown Ward 7. The Grand Opening will begin at 2:00 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

The Center for Green Urbanism borders the National Fort Mahan Park.  Its environmental ties has attracted the attention of the national organization Groundwork USA. The Center for Green Urbanism is the brainchild of environmentalist Zandra Chestnut and Dennis Chestnut, Washington community leader and Director of Groundwork Anacostia River, DC, the center’s first tenant. About the Center for Green Urbanism
The mission of the Center for Green Urbanism is to create a business-friendly environment that provides startups with affordable office space and business services in a sustainable and energy-efficient green demonstration facility. We are located in downtown Ward 7, Washington, DC. Meeting spaces are available and Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the facility.  The Center is a design model for a "living green business" in an urban setting, by decreasing our carbon footprint -- promoting home gardening, using energy efficient lighting and appliances, solar shade window treatments, a purified drinking water system, water saving devices and the recycling of trash and waste. The Center includes environmentally-friendly interior design features specified by Sherry Burton-Ways, principal of Design Scheme Interiors, LLC.

About the Tubman-Mahan Art Gallery
The Gallery is part of the Center for Green Urbanism, a new eco-friendly business incubator located in downtown Ward 7 in Northeast Washington, DC. The Center and Gallery are located at 3938 Benning Road, NE, Washington, DC on the edge of Fort Mahan Park, a national park site and gateway to the Fort Circle Park Trail.
