PRLog -- All things Christmas were on display at the beautiful Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) on Saturday September 18, 2010, when the world famous Rockettes stopped by to promote the huge American favorite Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. The show stops in Providence for a 2 week run from November 12- 28, 2010. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes is quite possibly the world’s most recognizable and well attended holiday show since its beginnings in 1933. Arguably, for the past 136 years the choirs of Bay View Academy have earned a reputation of excellence, performing at the Vatican, Paris, as part of Broadway’s Joseph and The Technicolor Dream Coat and for Ciao Italia, America’
s longest running cooking show; just to name a few. On November 24th at the 2PM performance you will have the chance to experience them both, right here in Providence. The Bay View Chamber has been selected as one of the choirs that will sing on the magnificent PPAC stage to open The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. “This is a wonderful chance for our Chamber to perform, but it also provides the entire Bay View community a unique opportunity to start the Christmas season off in spectacular fashion,” said Christine Kavanagh, Bay View’s Performing Arts Director. “We are thrilled to have been selected to be part of this event.” Deeply discounted tickets will be available through Bay View’s website.
As part of the selection the PPAC asked if the Chamber would be willing to wake up very early on September 18, 2010 to sing for the patrons of the PPAC Open House from 7AM-9AM. “Absolutely!”
said Kavanagh. With that, 24 members of the Chamber arrived with sequined Santa hats and Christmas scarves and serenaded the waiting patrons with Christmas favorites, and were joined by 4 stunning Rockettes. The choir sang and the Rockettes interacted with the crowd and then gave the first one hundred people in line the chance to Rock it with the Rockettes. Those 100 lucky patrons got the once in a lifetime chance to do a kick line with the leggy beauties! Rockette and RI native, Adrian expressed her gratitude to the fans and the choir, “thank you all for being here and thank you so much to the Bay View Choir for getting up so early to sing to us!” Then the Rockettes asked the Chamber members if they would like a chance to kick up their heels on the PPAC stage. Without hesitation and with beaming smiles the girls took to the stage with the troop. They kicked, beveled and had a blast! “November promises to be spectacular, as was the PPAC open house!” said Kavanagh.
