Follow on Google News | CCSVI & Multiple Sclerosis Study in VancouverFalse Creek Healthcare Centre in Vancouver, B.C has received approval for a study on CCSVI and Multiple Sclerosis. They are accepting a limited amount of participants, 100 individuals with MS and 100 volunteers who are not afflicted with MS.
The private medical facility is looking for volunteers to participate in a research study to investigate the link between Chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) and Multiple Sclerosis. The study will compare the blood vessels of individuals with Multiple Sclerosis compared to individuals without Multiple Sclerosis. Dr. Mark Godley, the Medical Director of False Creek Healthcare states the reasons for conducting and funding the study, “Recently it has been suggested that the blood vessels that return blood from the brain to the heart (veins) are abnormal in individuals with Multiple Sclerosis. While it has been demonstrated that there may be flow disruption in those with Multiple Sclerosis, it needs to be quantified and compared to a population who do not have Multiple Sclerosis.” Dr. G. Keith Chambers is leading the study, along with sub-investigator Dr. Tim Meakin and Dr. Mark Godley. 200 patients are being accepted into the study, and applications are being accepted until September 27, 5pm.
