Traidhos Three-Generation Golf Academy committed to Malaysia’s growth in golf

Oct. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- From 01 – 03 October, the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) held its inaugural Malaysia International Golf Fair 2010 (MIGF) at the Putra World Trade Centre – the first show of its kind in the country. Clearly reflecting their theme ‘Where Golf Takes Flight”, the exhibition/conference event reflected the country’s push to take Malaysian golf out of the shadows and into the international spotlight.

The country’s biggest golf exhibition created a golfing atmosphere around the two successive days of conferences and international speakers.  The Three-Generation Golf Academy was very interested in MGA’s goals to gather golf industry leaders from different sectors to focus on Malaysia as a dream destination for golf and building a strong junior golf program throughout the country.

Spike Collier, Director of Golf from the Three-Generation Golf Academy (TGGA) located in Chiang Mai, Thailand saw this as a great opportunity to introduce the Academy and its services to the Malaysian golfing community. The TGGA has been operating less than three years and understands the many challenges Malaysia faces emerging into the golf world and the MGA’s commitment to raise the level of junior golf in their country.

As TGGA was the only booth at the exhibition from outside Malaysia, visitors were extremely curious and inquisitive about their presence at the Fair. Spike explains, “We represent the first concept of its kind in Thailand that has combined an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School - the PTIS International School - with four internationally-directed sports academies.  The golf, tennis, cricket and football academies add a whole new dimension to educational offerings available to talented young athletes in Southeast Asia. Now with our golf academy firmly established, we want to get the word out!”

Whether pursuing competition play, collegiate golf, a professional path or simply wanting to be the best player possible, The Three-Generation Golf Academy offers a novel program for the serious golfer. One of TGGA’s top priorities was to inform the Malaysian public about its unique academy and junior golf scholarship program,  presenting parents with a new option to keep their young players closer to home than sending them further abroad to hone their skills.

For the first time in Asia, it is possible for students to combine academic studies with their golf dreams.

Reflecting Malaysia’s new philosophy, the TGGA believes in developing complete players and understands that education need not be sacrificed while achieving athletic goals. “We are looking towards their long-term future. Players attending the TGGA will not only develop into competitive players while earning a high school diploma, but will also receive assistance and support from TGGA and PTIS staff for opportunities to further their golf career by earning a golf scholarship to attend a university abroad or their home country,” says Spike.

Reaching out to a new audience at MIGF proved to be the perfect platform to increase public awareness to TGGA’s other golf instruction programs. With their keen love of golf and access to Air Asia’s two-and-a-half hour direct flight to Chiang Mai, Malaysians have been traveling to Chiang Mai - a fabulous golf vacation destination - for a very long time. Looking at Chiang Mai in a new light, focused on golf instruction combined with rounds of golf at Chiang Mai’s many championship golf courses or visiting the many wonders of this ancient city proved enticing to visiting travel agents, individuals, press, hotels and golf clubs passing through the exhibition hall.

Visitors to the exhibition found TGGA’s learning facility designed and dedicated to golf instruction, on-site boutique hotel, student living quarters, affordable, quality instruction and versatile packages very appealing. A place with no distractions, no hassles - just one place to refine their swing.

In the near future, newly-formed friendships between Spike Collier, TGGA, guest speakers from Australia, Paul Smith and Paul Hart, along with the MGA and other golf industry leaders will work collectively to bring first-rate instructional events to KL all aimed at taking golf in Malaysia to the next level.
