Oct. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Based on the motivational appeal of “Just Keeping It Real,” on November 27, 2010, Houston will host the state’s largest natural hair, health and beauty expo. The Nzuri Natural Hair Health & Beauty Showcase™ is prepared to educate, inspire and empower the growing number of women and men who are wearing their natural hair. Taken directly from the roots of the African Diaspora, the Nzuri expo will serve as a platform for the beautiful, natural hair movement that is quickly becoming an influential part of mainstream hair trends.

There will be several educational opportunities including: “What’s in a Name: The Lethal Side Effects of the N-word,” a workshop by Tammie Lang Campbell and an open panel discussion entitled “My voice is not Silent,” a forum to speak on areas of concern for the African American family. Workshops with internationally known instructors, health experts, along with make-up and beauty, and holistic health consultants will be offered throughout the event. The Guinness World Record holder of the longest dreadlocs, Asha Mandela, will be onsite for autographs, photos and to judge the longest loc competition.

The showcase will bring celebrity natural stylists, local and international talents, products, and services to the greater public and feature fun and entertainment for the entire family. Spotlight will be on the fashion show by IM2 models featuring haute couture designs by some of Houston’s own top fashion designers and boutiques and the five competitions: Top Natural Hair Stylist, the Little Miss “Happy” Headed beauty pageant for natural beauty queens ages 5-13, hosted by Dr. Elon Bomani and co-hosted by the winner of Miss Black Texas USA Pre-Teen, Nzuri Biggest Afro, Longest Best Kept Locs, and Top Braider. A portion of the proceeds from the Little Miss “Happy Headed” pageant will benefit Shoes4School.org and the Honey Brown Hope Foundation.

Live entertainment acts will be performing. General admission tickets are $10, children under 12 are free. VIP passes are available for $25 and give unlimited access to the full expo, preferred seating at all event shows, a Swag Bag, and free raffle tickets. VIP tickets can be purchased early, and limited seating is available.

Sponsorship and Vendor booths are available for rent. To order or for more information visit the Nzuri Natural Hair, Health, & Beauty Showcase website www.naturalhairshowcase.com.
