The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club holds a successful meeting on 10-5-10 at their new location.

Oct. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro, IL met for the very first time at their new location on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the historic Challcombe House.  

Seasoned Toastmasters member Dr. Todd Austin gave a basic manual speech project which was titled "Pillow Talk".  Dr. Todd has been a practicing Chiropractic Physician since 1993.  He’s been doing so in Virden, IL at Austin Family Chiropractic since 1996.  For more information, please visit: http://www.NorthMacChiropractic.com .  Dr. Todd recently subscribed to a series of monthly chiropractic office reception room DVD’s produced by an Arizona-based company called Life Path Productions.  Dr. Austin has since been asked to record an educational video with the crew from Life Path Productions for a future DVD.  This will be a video that is to be viewed in many chiropractic offices around the country, and possibly beyond.  The topic that Todd was asked to speak on is “Proper Sleeping Habits and Chiropractic Care”.  Therefore, Dr. Austin's presentation to the club served as a final practice before he is set to tape with Life Path Productions.  Dr. Austin's segment is scheduled to be filmed on October 7, 2010.


Club member Maria Eilers spoke of the importance of Languages, thus fulfilling another basic (Competent Communicator) manual project. Maria previously lived in Germany and thus speaks fluent German.  She even impressed the audience by speaking in German on a few occasions during her speech to help emphasize certain points.  Danke!

Maria's young daughter Julia also gave an 'Ice Breaker' speech to the Mont-Co Club. According to Toastmasters International, the 'Ice Breaker' is the first formal speech that a person gives to introduce herself to the club.  

During club business, Todd Austin announced that he and two other Montgomery County Toastmasters club members have accepted an invitation to speak to Dr. Peggy Lee's public speaking class about the benefits of Toastmasters membership.  This will take place at Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL on October 21, 2010.  Two Mont-Co club members will speak, with one promoting Tostmasters and the other being humorous.  The third member will lead the Table Topics session at Blackburn.

Maria Eilers was also the evenings Toastmaster.  Club president Bill Guthrie was the Table Topics Master.  The next meeting will be Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at the Hillsboro Challcombe House. Guests are always welcome and are encouraged to attend.
