GIS industry experts from defence and national security organisations around the world are meeting in January at Defence Geospatial Intelligence (DGI) 2011 to discuss the role of human terrain analysis, to share strategies and to learn from the pioneers on how geospatial intelligence is helping armies move forward. The meeting agenda will focus on many challenges, opportunities and practical realities of geospatial analysis, information gathering, dissemination and management. Intelligence and geo officers from top ranks of over 50 defence organisations will be sharing their strategies, giving their views and showing what they use in-theatre and in HQ. Stuart Haynes, Director, Defence Geographic Centre, Intelligence Collection Group, UK MoD is preparing a strategic presentation focused on the use of HTA in UK defence operations. Michael W. Powers, Technical Director, Geospatial Research and Engineering, US Army, one of USA’s pioneers of HTA will be giving you his strategies on using and analysing authoritative vs non-authoritative data in geoint. Steven Grant, International Research Office, Engineer Research and Development Center, US Army Corps of Engineers is bringing you the latest expertise and experience on effective socio-cultural research. Special Presentation from Brig. General (ret) Amnon Sofrin, Head of The Intelligence Directorate, Israeli Intelligence Service (ISIS) Gen. Sofrin served in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) from 1973 to 2003. His last assignment with the IDF was Chief Combat Intelligence Corps, which he established and commanded for 3.5 years, retiring as Brigadier General. The Israeli experience of gathering, managing and analysing intelligence to fight terrorism is perhaps second to none. Gen.
