SARTONK attends 2010 NJ Boxing Hall of Fame

Union City, NJ -- On 11 November, Sartonk Designs made its appearance at the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and Ceremony. This annual event was held at the beautiful Venetian in Garfield, NJ, and hosted by none other than Hall of Fame President and 2010 Inductee himself, Henry Hascup.

SARTONK President, Edward S. Majian and his grandfather, Ardash Sahaghian, received many of the 450+ guests at their exhibit, where they displayed samples of their championship boxing belts. “What an honor to meet the man who designed the belts that are the symbols of our industry,” commented an attendee. After being awarded the signature NJ Hall of Fame Induction boxing belts, many inductees came to shake hands with Sahaghian, the man who’s been making them for decades. Majian, who founded SARTONK in 2008 to preserve the legacy of his grandfather’s work and continue making the iconic belts for major boxing organizations, was particularly proud of supporting this annual gathering: “Although our work is international, we have a special connection to New Jersey, since we’ve always been based here. It’s really amazing to see so many accomplished men and women, devoted to the sport of boxing, inducted into our State Hall of Fame.” The mood among team SARTONK was especially celebratory due to the induction of Henry Hascup, who’s been a long-time friend of Sahaghian’s and sits on the Advisory Board of Sartonk Designs. Rejoicing in the honor, Hascup expressed, “I didn’t join the organization to be inducted. It was a great moment for me. You’ve got a lot of legends in the Hall of Fame, and to be in their company is something that you only dream of when you’re a kid. I was happy and appreciative that Ardash and SARTONK were here to celebrate this with me.”

Aside from posing for photographs with fans and congratulating the Inductees, Majian and Sahaghian, along with another Advisory Board Member Donald Duncan, paid homage to those who are no longer with us, but who achieved the great honor of induction posthumously.

“It’s always a joy to see friends and colleagues – good people like Henry and Jose Rosario – inducted and exciting to learn about histories we didn’t know, and discover new friends in the boxing community,” said Majian. “Meeting someone like Rusty Rosenberger or Art Tucker, for example, would be the highlight of any night. Every boxing fan should know their stories. This was a night of celebration and remembrance, and the beginning of yet another year of great achievements,” reflected Majian.
