Nov. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Tod's is an Italian brand which produces shoes, leather goods and other lifestyle products, and is presided over by businessman Diego Della Valle. Synonymous with fine quality and Italian style, Tod’s creates products that are elegantly understated and wonderfully practical. The brand’s craftsmen works with the world’s most luxurious leathers and every piece has the incomparable look and feel of being genuinely hand-made. From Oscar-winning actresses to heads of state, customers value the unsurpassed workmanship. There are over 100 steps in building a Tod’s shoe. Keeping this in mind and knowing that these steps involve using only the best leather available, it is no wonder that Tod’s loafers are legendary. Established in 1900 and using the same hand techniques handed down from one generation to the next, these loafers define understated luxury, impeccable taste and enviable quality. All products are hand crafted in their own factories, shoes and other leather goods, and produced in limited numbers. The materials, and all the production phases are fully supervised until the finished products, are centralized at their headquarters.
The Tod’s story begins in the early 1900 when Diego Della Valle's grandfather, Filippo founded a small shoe factory. In the 70's, a major turnaround: from a family run business to an industrial company, this happens when Diego Della Valle enters the firm and leads the development of the business.  Diego Della Valle, Dorino's elder son, expanded the workshop and turned it into a factory that started manufacturing shoes for American department stores in the 1970s. Diego brought in innovative marketing strategies in the early 1980s, kept the handmade manufacturing process and went on to create brands of lifestyle named Tod's, Hogan and Fay. Roger Vivier, maker of high luxury shoes was acquired in the mid–1990s and developed starting the beginning of this Millennium.

Subjects include Lord Mountbatten’s granddaughter, India Hicks and her two sons Felix and Armory Flint Wood, American heiresses Lauren Remington Platt and her sister Ashley Wilcox Platt, English artist Hugo Guinness, and American movie producer James Johnson. Each face conveys the easy elegance of the brand, and the spirit of tradition and heritage mixed with contemporary flair, which Tod’s represents.
