Nov. 22, 2010 -
PRLog -- Newark, NJ, –
In a January,
2010 release
from Mayor
of Newark N.J.
Cory Booker's
office it was
announced that “
there is an
average of
938 homeless
people struggling
to find food
and shelter
in Newark’s
streets, making
up more than
90 percent
of Essex County’
s homeless
population.”*
This Thanksgiving,
FP YOUTHOUTCRY invites Newark’
s homeless
population to “
break bread”
with them at
Newark’s Military
Park for their
annual “Break Bread with
You” Thanksgiving
ceremony. This
initiative is
a collaborative
effort between
FP YOUTHOUTCRY,
The City of
Newark, Against
All Odds and
a host of
local volunteers.
FP YOUTHOUTCRY Executive Director & Founder, Al‐
Tariq Best,
says “I have
been blessed
far beyond
what I ever
imagined and
I have adopted
the philosophy
that ‘to
whom much is
given, much
is required.’
Everyone that
is less fortunate
is not this
way because
of their own
faults, this
is our way
to give back
and provide
a few hours
of normalcy
for those who
may have given
up on hope
that people
who care do exist. We hear
their cries
as well!” Since
2009, the Newark
based non‐profit
organization,
FP YOUTHOUTCRY,
has provided
alternative
programming
to reach underserved
youth and families
within Newark,
N.J., and this
annual initiative
is an extension
of their community
outreach efforts.
