Follow on Google News | Great Longstone first in online village video seriesPeak District Online is investing more than £200,000 in creating an online video catalogue that will give website visitors an entirely new view of their favourite destinations.
In September the Peak District’s biggest accommodation and information website group launched online video feeds of some of the area’s best-loved towns and villages as part of a year-long programme to film more than 130 locations. Drawing on its specialist knowledge of the region and using a professional video team the first Peak District location to get the video treatment was the popular village of Great Longstone. This pretty settlement, two miles from Bakewell, has some fine 18th century cottages built from the mellow Derbyshire gritsone, a medieval church and a handsome Regency Hall. Popular with walkers and boasting two pubs and two shops, Great Longstone has some glorious views over the magnificent Derbyshire countryside and all of these facilities are brilliantly showcased in the online video. Peak District Online’s sales director James Dobson said that the company was delighted with the response to the new service: “We have a massive market presence in the Peak District and this extension into online videos is a natural progression for our sites and means that we can give visitors a flavour of the region that words and pictures could never do. “Businesses will be attracted by the dynamic way in which their home town or village is portrayed; we expect it to have a big impact on our viewing figures.” The Group’s online video portfolio to date includes many of the area’s most popular holiday destinations including Bakewell, Buxton, Matlock Bath and Ashbourne. Although the project only began two months ago there are already 29 online videos with more than a hundred more due to be launched in the next few months. With more than 2,000 unique visitors in the first week of going live, the Group is already delighted by the response to the 12 videos already up for viewing. “It’s a really new online concept that will revolutionise the way people can choose where to go,” said James, “it will bring the Peak District to life and really raise its profile in the growing UK holiday market.” Note to editors For more information contact James on james@peakdistrictonline.co.uk visit http://www.peakdistrictonline.co.uk for more information # # # Since we established Peak District Online in 2004, the website has flourished and grown beyond our wildest dreams.
