Cathay Pacific Expecting a Record Annual Profit

It boosts a capacity 11% increase on Global Travel Pickup. The carrier will increase the passenger capacity as the demand picks up for premium-class travel.

The airline is also eagerly waiting to receive nine new wide-body passenger aircraft next year. The positive outcome attributes to the wage rise in China and a rebound in the global economy that increased the demand for leisure and business class flights. This growth in the Asia-pacific travel section will keep on going and will most likely outpace the global demand next year.

The Chief Executive Officer of Cathay Pacific, Mr. Tony Tyler said in an interview in the city today, “It’s certainly very strong at the moment, that’s giving us a good feeling and, of course, great results.”

Reacting to the news, Mr. Andrew Herdman, director general at the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines said, “Asia-Pacific travel growth will likely continue to outpace global demand next year, I’m optimistic we’ll see continued growth into 2011, Airlines in the region “have got costs under control and they’re managing capacity carefully ”.
