Nov. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- One of the Peak District’s prettiest villages was amongst the first to be included in an ongoing video programme being rolled out by the area’s leading web portal.

Ashford in the Water, a picture postcard village close to Bakewell, is now available on the website of Peak District Online, the accommodation and information experts for the area.
Drawing on a wealth of specialist knowledge and using a professional video team, Peak District Online recently launched the video feeds of the area’s best loved towns and villages and although the programme began only two months ago, 29 videos are now available to view either on their website or via a dedicated page on You Tube and more are being added every day.

More than £200,000 is being spent by the Peak District Online Group in assembling a catalogue of around 135 videos of the Peak District’s most popular settlements, a significant investment in the area’s tourism industry.

With more than 2,000 visitors in the first week of going live the Peak District Online Group is delighted with the response and believes the concept will be incredibly popular.
Arguably the most picturesque village in Derbyshire, Ashford-in-the-Water nestles on the banks of the River Wye spanned by a medieval Sheepwash Bridge. It is the site of the original `ford by the ash trees' from which the village takes its name and one of several ancient bridges which span the river here. Demonstrations of sheep-washing are still sometimes given, providing an added attraction for tourists who come in considerable numbers, drawn from the passing by the beauty and natural charm of the riverside setting.
Peak District Online’s sales director James Dobson said that the company was delighted with the response to the new service:

“We have a massive market presence in the Peak District and this extension into online videos is a natural progression for our sites and means that we can give visitors a flavour of the region that words and pictures could never do.
