Nov. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- The cries of “standby!” and “Action!” could recently be heard at WDSC TV, as the studio set transformed into a location for a national  Public Television pledge show, Functional Fitness starring Suzanne Andrews: The Complete Guide to Arthritis Relief offering the very latest treatments to decrease and even eliminate arthritis pain.

Public Television viewers who follow Andrews’ health program sing its praises, from the grandmother who has found a new love of skiing with her grandchildren, to doctors who applaud the care and compassion Andrews has put into her work.  Co-hosting with Suzanne Andrews was Dr.  Mache Seibel  who served on the Harvard Medical School faculty nearly two decades before assuming his current position as a Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.   Seibel has won numerous awards for research, writing, music and patient education. His clear and concise summaries and analysis of complex issues have made him a consistent figure in both print and broadcast media, and a sought after consultant. In 2008 the University of Texas Medical Branch recognized him with an Ashbel Smith Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Medical School's highest honor. Dr. Seibel is also a founder of HealthRock, ® http://www.mseibelmd.com/, reshaping health education with fun, easy to remember songs and he wrote a song especially for the pledge show.

Public Television viewers are also offered a wealth of arthritis relief information with Nathan Wei, MD, who is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Jefferson Medical College.  He completed his residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan and his fellowship in arthritis at the National Institute of Healthy in Bethedsa, Maryland. Dr. Wei is an acknowledged national expert in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and is the author of more than 500 publications.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and is the only American rheumatologist member in the Arthroscopy Association of North America and recommends Andrews Functional Fitness program.

Andrews said specially produced arthritis pain management DVDs and Dr. Wei’s latest book will be offered as a ‘thank you’ to supporters of Public Television stations across the U.S. and Canada during their pledge drives.  “Each segment is medically designed to nourish your joints, reduce arthritis pain and improve your joint function.”

While the shoot was directed by Virgil Taylor, Public Broadcasting producer Tami Salame and program manager Mike Rentnelli were supervising the shoot, with photographer Will Currie documenting the day.   Behind the scenes photos can be viewed at
