The desilter for drilling fluid mainly separate drilling cuttings sized 15~47 microns. Before the Desilter there will be shale shaker firstly and desander subsequent. As we know the drilling fluids will be invaded by drilling cuttings, etc. In order to keep property of fluid and give high performance we need solids control equipment to weigh or unweith the mud.

Before desilter, usually there will be shaker and desander. The 2 equipment will separate particle larger than 47microns out.

Different well drilling depth will request different configuration on equipments or system. When the well is drilled deeper and deeper the drilling cuttings will be smaller and smaller. And the requirement on fluid property will be higher and higher.


Desilter design

Usually we make Desilter cone(4-5"), steel frame or basic support, underset shaker together as desilter. According to user request there can be without underset shaker. Just use the Desilter cone and related frame, support, etc.

The Desilter configuration also decided by the treating capacity requested by client. One 4" desilter cone holds capacity about 15-20m3/h commonly. Cones number and size result certain treating capacity

The desilter can be combined desander then it will be called mud cleaner


How doest it work?

We use the desander and desilter to process drilling fluid. To provide object we must need centrifugal pump. The pump can be vertical type or horizontal type. The mud after pumped will hold pressure. Then it will have swirl in the cones. The larger solid will be separated out of cones. Usually the particle in the mud will be 15-47microns.

If there is underset shaker the fluid will be separated once again. This will promise some savage on effective mud and leave less particles little larger. If user didn't have too strict demand then the mud will be ok and proper after desilter.


The type on Desilter

Desilter cones can be PU or casting iron, abrasion-resistant alloy, etc. The most popular one is PU since it's much lighter and also durable. We can match the underset shaker or not. Regarding to the  underset shaker motion, it is variable. From the beginning it maybe circle motion, and then elliptical motion, finally the linear motion. And by and by will change regularly
