Manufacturing Training and ASM International Publish "Systems Failure Analysis"

Nov. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The Manufacturing Training organization is pleased to announce the publication of its latest book, 'Systems Failure Analysis,' by ASM International.

"We are pleased to see this in print," said Joseph Berk, the author and principal consultant in the Manufacturing Training organization.  "This is a no-nonsense, results-oriented approach to finding the root causes of failures in complex systems.  The book's fault-tree-analysis-driven approach is being widely adopted in the aerospace, automotive, defense, biomedical, and electronics industries.  The approach is based on our experiences in these areas."  Berk said the book is different than other failure analysis books because it does not focus solely on component-level failures.  "Although we include component-level failure analysis," Berk said, "our focus is on analyzing failures in much more complex systems, such as aircraft, missiles, transportation systems, and sophisticated medical equipment.   This is an area that has been largely ignored in the literature, and our book fills that gap."

"Systems Failure Analysis" includes approaches for objectively identifying and evaluating all possible failure causes, converging on the most likely causes through the use of appropriate documentation reviews, failure analysis equipment, and designed experiments, and selecting optimal near-term and longer-term corrective actions.
