Generation of Baby Boomers Most Influential Generation in Entertainment History of the United States

Dec. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Southfield, MI – Local Baby Boomer entertainment promoters, Joe and Justin Macksoud and Dennis Nazelli are planning the 2011 series of Baby Boomer Niteclub Entertainment parties called the Michigan Baby Boomer Niteclub Entertainment Bash Events.  The first of which will take place Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the St. Clair Shores’ Lakeland Banquet and Event Centre.

Having the most education than any previous generation, Baby Boomers were truly ready to take advantage of their access to all of the entertainment outlets:  eight-track tapes, television, rock concerts, the movies, Woodstock, walkman radios…..

For their early entertainment, Baby Boomer families huddled near television sets to watch the Ed Sullivan Show, Milton Berle’s Show of Shows, The Honeymooners and Leave It To Beaver; westerns like Gunsmoke and the Rifleman. Beloved TV shows included The Andy Griffith Show, The Flintstones and Laugh-In.

The music entertainment industry exploded with Elvis returning from the Army introducing Rock 'N' Roll to the Boomer Generation. Crooners like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Rosemary Clooney topped the record charts, and the start of the British Invasion with the Beatles was introduced on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Baby Boomers loved action movies with such greats as James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause as well as musicals like South Pacific, The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady with actresses including Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.

The Motown entertainment empire started with such greats as Gladys Knight and the Pips, the Supremes, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.  The Beach Boys started their surfer hits, and the Boomer Generation was seen dancing on American Bandstand with dance crazes like the Twist with Chubby Checker and the Watusi.

Sports included the likes of Hank Aaron in baseball, Arnold Palmer in golf and boxer Muhammed Ali.

Fashion fads included bell-bottom blue jeans and poodle skirts.

The Women's Liberation Movement started along with the conflict of the Vietnam War.  
Barbie dolls and hoola hoops were the craze for kids.

Baby Boomer hair for men sported either crew cuts or Beatle cuts and women had bouffant hairdos. Boomers had their Woodstock and the Hippie Movement.

Baby Boomers remember the romance of drive-in movies.

The Baby Boomer entertainment in the 50's, 60's and 70’s molded our generation into who we are and what we value today:  a return to the entertainment that gave us the good times as teenagers; the music that made us fall in love as young adults; the movies that made us dream about what we could be as parents and leaders in our communities.

Today there are many forms of advanced entertainment technology that appeal to Baby Boomers. TiVo or DVR devices are among the most popular with Boomers. With these devices, Baby Boomers are free to watch the TV shows they want, when they want. Like younger generations, Baby Boomers appreciate the ability to record a TV program and watch it at a more convenient time.

However, Baby Boomers still yearn for those yesteryears when their entertainment was live, on stage, in person, up front and natural.

Featuring live Las Vegas performers, Michael Carluccio and Elvis Kelly as the Las Vegas Tribute Brothers, the entire evening will be dedicated to celebrating Baby Boomer entertainment in a Niteclub setting with the Lakeland Centre’s special all-you-can-eat banquet and all free premium drinks.
