By: NSPR APPLICATION LOGISTICS HEAD NORTH WITH CAMWOOD Need for UK delivered app engineering drives the experts to open in Manchester LONDON, UK: 21 December 2010 – Camwood Limited, the UK-based leaders in Application Migrations today announced that it has launched a state of the art application logistics facility in the North of England to meet unprecedented demand for Windows 7 and application virtualisation projects. The Manchester-based facility was opened on 6th December and is dedicated to supporting clients both in the UK and overseas. With ever increasing concerns over the quality of off-shoring of application packaging and virtualisation, Camwood has noticed an increased demand for high quality application engineering delivered on shore in the UK. In line with the UK’s recent surge of investment outside of London, Manchester was selected. The Salford-based facility, known as Waters Edge, provides Camwood with the ability to scale effectively to meet customer needs and facilitates flexible working for staff. Frank Foxall, CEO of Camwood commented: “The vast majority of our customer base insists upon a UK facility and they all require the highest levels of security. In fact, in a recent customer survey that we carried out, 100% of our customers said having the flexibility of a local on shore facility provided by Camwood would add additional benefits to project delivery.” He continued: “Plus, contrary to popular belief, we found that there were no significant savings to be made through offshoring, when you consider the impact on the quality of the finished applications. Our Manchester facility will be the UK’s most efficient, dedicated application engineering centre and is fully functional only one month after agreeing the location.” Due to its rapid growth, Camwood is also relocating its Head Office to larger premises in the City of London in January. Complementing the London base, the three-floor Manchester facility is set to provide additional employment to the North West and will provide an improved platform for selling to companies in the North of England. Tim Newns, Deputy Chief Executive of Manchester’s investment and development agency, MIDAS, commented: “This is great news for Salford and will create a number of high tech and high value roles which can only increase if successful. With a strong reputation in London and the US, Camwood is an important new addition to Greater Manchester’s well-established IT supply chain and will be well served by the IT expertise that exists in the region’s labour market and universities.” Councillor John Merry CBE, Leader of Salford City Council, said: “Camwood is the latest of a growing number of multinational companies choosing Salford as a base for its business, recognising the top quality facilities we have on offer in the city. Merry added: “The jobs the company will bring to Salford will support the local economy, while the University of Salford is on hand to produce Camwood’s employees of the future. I’m sure the company will flourish amid the hub of creative industries setting up home on Salford Quays.” Camwood is the industry leader in Application Logistics, actively reducing the disruption associated with application migration and platform changes.
