By: Gabe O'Neill "In a world of raunchy reality shows and sensationalized news, this is definitely the prescribed medicine", said Brian Dempsey, who invited Kids Are Heroes to be part of the Recognition Radio. "I contacted Kids Are Heroes because I want to help spread the word about everyday people making a difference in their communities." MaryMargaret O'Neill, who just turned 12 years old this past November, is one of the hosts. She founded Kids Are Heroes when she was just nine years old. She herself has been featured on the site four times, for doing things such as hosting a lemonade stand for cancer victims and donating 250 MP3 players to area youth hospitals. Her non-profit based out of Frederick Maryland empowers children to give back to their communities by showcasing those who are changing the world. To date they feature more than 160 heroes from the US, Canada, the UK and Africa, They plan to invite heroes on to the show so they can talk about the great things they are doing and also lead other children to become involved. "If people want to be inspired and have a great feeling inside, then they should listen", said Gabe O'Neill, father of MaryMargaret. "This is a perfect venue to share what we have been experiencing all along, which is the wonder of what children can do when they are passionate about something. And it's great experience for the heroes as they get to come on the radio. I am so looking forward to each and every week. Make sure you get your children to listen. You might be surprised what they come up with next."
