Jan. 5, 2011 - PRLog -- The Denver Sports Commission, U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and Anheuser-Busch announced today that Denver Big Air presented by Sprint will host two concerts with national recording artists, one featuring Switchfoot on Tuesday, Jan. 25 and the other featuring One Republic (which hails from Colorado) on Wednesday, Jan. 26. Admission for the concerts is included with the Denver Big Air presented by Sprint ticket.

The bands will play their sets between the opening rounds and the finals of the competition on the mobile Bud Light stage that will be placed near the base of the 102-foot high Denver Big Air presented by Sprint ramp that will be in the middle of Civic Center Park in Downtown Denver. The concerts will be a great diversion for the crowd after the opening round of the competitions as fans wait for officials to determine which competitors from the opening rounds advance to the finals of their respective competitions.
Grammy-nominated Switchfoot will play Denver Big Air presented by Sprint on Tuesday, Jan. 25 after the opening round of the “Battle of the Brands” ski competition, which is scheduled to start at 5:00 PM. The San Diego-based band's members are Jon Foreman, Tim Foreman, Chad Butler, Jerome Fontamillas and Drew Shirley. The band is known for its energetic live shows, where the three guitarists in the line-up often operate simultaneously. Switchfoot first gained mainstream recognition with the inclusion of four of their songs in the 2002 movie “A Walk to Remember.” Its major label debut in 2003, “The Beautiful Letdown,” sold over 2.6 million copies and produced the band's best-known singles, "Meant to Live," and "Dare You to Move." On Wednesday, Jan. 26, Colorado’s own One Republic will play after the opening round of the of the International Ski Federation (FIS) LG World Cup Snowboard competition, which is also scheduled to start at 5:00 PM. One Republic exploded from Colorado onto the national stage in 2007 with their Grammy-nominated single “Apologize” that was a No. 1 hit in 16 countries from the album “Dreaming Out Loud.” The group built on that success with the single “Stop and Stare” in 2008 and released the full length “Waking Up” album, featuring the hit single “Secrets” in 2009. Made up of musicians Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Brent Kutzle and Eddie Fisher, One Republic is another reason Colorado’s music scene has generated great buzz in recent years. Their great live shows usually feature fantastic covers of famous pop songs. For more information, visit http://www.OneRepublic.net.
