Jan. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- With the Spring Summer 2011 collection comes the usual selection of new brands, new collections and sadly 'last seasons brands'. This season Mainline Menswear are proud to announce that Nike Clothing and Footwear are now live on the website and available to be bought alongside other retro sportswear brands such as Adidas Originals, Fila Vintage, Puma Archive and Sergio Tacchini.
The retro sportswear market is currently blossoming with the 80s revival being seen in other vintage mens designer clothes brands such as Lyle and Scott, Original Penguin and Gabicci, brands that have all recently featured in remakes of classic films alongside the retro sportswear scene, which brings the brands, styles and looks all together under the men's designer clothing banner.

Nike first began trading as Blue Ribbon Sports. The founders Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman began by distributing Japanese made trainers for Onitsuka Tiger at track meets from the boot of Knights car. Within seven years profits had soared, retail outlets were opened and the original agreement between BRS and Onitsuka Tiger came to an end, leading Knight and Bowerman to begin designing their own brand of footwear, featuring the now globally renowned Swoosh logo on the outstep. Realising that the name of the company wasn’t overly appealing to the American sports market steps were taken to change the name to Nike, which translated in Greek means the Goddess of Victory, a fitting name for a company that would soon dominate the world and become a household name. The next ten or so years led to major product development with varying styles and innovative design features being placed on the running shoes. 50% of the US athletic shoe market share was quickly attained and the duo began to look at ways to further the growth with clothing and equipment.
The long list of celebrity endorsers cites everyone from Cristiano Ronaldo to Wayne Rooney then across sports to Tiger Woods, Raphael Nadal and most famously Michael Jordan. The huge range of Nike clothing and footwear on Mainline Menswear is representative of the early roots of Nike, but also the influence that top sports men and women have had over the years.
